Cast Net 8' Radius and 1/4" square mesh clear monofilament
Cast nets have been used, with various modifications, for thousands of years. A circular net with small weights distributed around its edge. Easily catch small “forage fish” to then use for bait.
The fishing net is thrown by hand in such a manner that it spreads out while it’s in the air before it sinks into the water. A 30′ handline is attached to the net which is held in one hand as the net is thrown. When the net is full, a retrieval clamp, which works like a wringer on a mop, closes the net around the fish. Pulling the handline retrieves the net.
Cast nets work best in water that is no deeper than their radius and free of obstructions. Reeds can cause tangles and branches can rip nets.
When throwing the net out into the water, use both hands, moving your arms and body in a circular motion. Cast from a boat, from the shore, or while wading.
8' cast nets can be operated by one person and will lie flat when thrown.6 Panel Design
