Cast Net with 10' Radius and 3/8" square mesh clear monofilament
A circular net with small weights distributed around its edge, this simple device is particularly effective for catching small “forage fish” which is then used for bait. Cast nets have been used, with various modifications, for thousands of years.
The fishing net is thrown by hand in such a manner that it spreads out while it’s in the air before it sinks into the water. A 30′ handline is attached to the net which is held in one hand as the net is thrown. When the net is full, a retrieval clamp, which works like a wringer on a mop, closes the net around the fish. Pulling the handline retrieves the net.
Cast nets work best in water that is no deeper than their radius and free of obstructions. Reeds can cause tangles and branches can rip nets.
When throwing the net out into the water, use both hands, moving your arms and body in a circular motion. The net can be cast from a boat, from the shore, or while wading.
Our nets will lie flat when thrown.
